About Me

Susan Striepe is an interdisciplinary artist who has exhibited both nationally and internationally. In addition, she has taught art through various institutions and settings. She has a B.A. in History of Art, a B.F.A. in Graphic Design, an M.A. in Art Education, and an MFA in Studio Art. She was a member of The Plowhaus Cooperative in East Nashville and exhibited with the group from 2006 to 2012. She also exhibited on occasions with the Nashville Untitled group from 2002 to 2012. Her work has been shown at a number of other galleries as well. Currently she volunteers as a docent at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts in Nashville and teaches at Columbia State Community College. Central to her work is the relationship between thinking practices and art making practices in which she explores various materials and ideas to create a vibrant interactive situation between the audience and the art work. Susan Striepe's current body of work explores the concept of the posthuman and the anthropocene.
